The view from the artist’s room during his stay in Antwerp, with a little mythology thrown in. Phaeton driving Zeus’s Sun Chariot for a day before being unable to control the horses, putting Earth in danger of being burnt up and leaving his father no choice other than to prevent disaster and kill his own son with a thunderbolt.
