Spoils of War - Original Watercolor Painting
Woodblock, Dresden, 1532
Medieval Woodcut // Woodcut Print // Unusual Medieval Art
The Spoils of War... a parable still applicable today. This piece was at the end of a multi woodblock panel depicting an army train heading for the crusades. The soldiers in front of this were all human, and this little story followed at the end. A Muslim and a Christian soldier both stand flanking Death's side, as they head off into war. Death is seen on the horse, holding the Hour Glass of Time high above their heads. This simple picture tells the world then and the world now that when the Muslims and the Christians fight, only Death will prevail. 🖤 🖤 This piece is a woodblock print, printed by hand on my 1898 Chandler & Price Printing Press. Shown here as an original watercolor painting with Winsor & Newton Artisan Watercolors. Printed and painted by my own hand. . .
